Charles Joseph “Charlie” McDermott (born April 6, 1990) is an American television and film actor best known for playing Axl Heck on ABC’s The Middle.
Charlie McDermott was born in West Chester, Pennsylvania, and is the son of Barbara and Charlie McDermott, a fitness club owner. He has two younger sisters: Erin and Grace. He temporarily attended Salesianum High School in Wilmington, Delaware, before enrolling and graduating from PA Leadership Charter School (PALCS), a virtual school in Pennsylvania. He moved to Los Angeles at the age of 16.
